About Jez

I know what one opportunity can change.

I’m Jez Pitman—former Cadet RSM, Army veteran, qualified Mountain Leader, cadet leader and the person accountable for every High Horizon stage.

The person behind High Horizon

Cadets changed the direction of my life.

I joined Wellington School CCF as a cadet in 1996 and became Cadet RSM. The confidence, responsibility and sense of belonging I found there shaped the military service, leadership and challenge that followed.

Today I work as Cadet Executive Officer for Bristol and the Channel Islands ACF and serve as Deputy Contingent Commander at Wellington School CCF. I have spent years helping young people meet demanding objectives and see more in themselves.

My Army background includes operational service in Iraq on Op TELIC 4. I was British Army Pistol Champion in 2022 and 2023 and earned Army shooting colours in four consecutive years. I am also a qualified Mountain Leader, DofE Assessor and Ten Tors lead coach.

In the mountains, I have completed Triglav and a winter ascent of Mount Toubkal at 4,167m in around –21°C. High Horizon is the deliberate next step: ambitious enough to command attention, structured enough to show progress and personal enough for me to remain accountable.

Cadet Horizons is Jez’s personal initiative. His professional appointments demonstrate relevant experience but do not imply endorsement by his employers or Cadet Force organisations.
