01 · Mission brief

The expedition is the vehicle.
The opportunity is the destination.

Cadet Horizons was founded by two former cadets who believe that authentic adventure can demonstrate the qualities that help young people thrive: confidence, judgement, resilience, leadership and teamwork.

Objective

Complete a responsible Brenta traverse.

A multi-day hut-to-hut journey using established mountain paths and protected via ferrata routes, subject throughout to conditions, safety and sound judgement.

Team

Jeremy Pitman & Alan Etherton.

Founder and Co-Founder of Cadet Horizons, bringing together experience in mountain, expedition and wider adventure environments.

Purpose

Create opportunities through adventure.

The mission introduces Cadet Horizons, builds an expedition record and creates a platform for future partnerships and support for young people.

02 · Garmin inReach MapShare

Follow the mission live.

During the expedition, Garmin inReach satellite tracking will display the team’s public position here. Until MapShare is activated, this panel remains in preparation mode.

Tracking prepared

Satellite tracking will appear here.

The live map activates when the public Garmin MapShare address is added to the website configuration. No redesign will be needed.

Tracking is a public progress tool. It does not replace the expedition’s safety, communications or emergency arrangements.

04 · What support enables

Every contribution connects to a practical need.

These suggested amounts help supporters understand the scale of the mission costs. Every button opens the same official GoFundMe campaign, where any amount can be chosen.

05 · iPhone field updates

06 · Mission journal

From preparation to permanent record.

The page will develop through three states: preparation before departure, live updates during the mission and a permanent expedition archive afterwards.

Route, equipment and logistics

The mission route, hut availability, technical requirements, communications, contingency planning and fundraising are being assembled.

Final mission brief

The confirmed plan, final equipment status, partner acknowledgements and pre-departure update will be published here.

Live track and field notes

Garmin positions will provide location updates. Photographs and journal entries will be added whenever connectivity permits.

Mission impact report

The final route, gallery, lessons learned, supporter acknowledgements and mission outcomes will remain as a permanent archive.

07 · Why this matters

More than a mountain journey.

Every Cadet Horizons expedition exists to demonstrate resilience, leadership, teamwork and safe decision-making while building a platform capable of creating future opportunities for young people.
